Thermador MBCS
Where the MB30 models drop their doors down, the MBCS swings its door open from the left like a cabinet. Thermador’s product page confirms this 24-inch Masterpiece microwave has a 2.1 cu. ft. cavity, a space the brand calls roomy enough for a 9″ plate with a 20 oz. cup beside it, and it draws 1500 watts from an ordinary 120V/15A outlet.
A side-hinged door brings a complaint of its own. Hinge and latch wear can leave the interlock switch unconvinced that the door is shut, and the microwave then refuses to begin. That makes the door our first inspection on a no-start call.
Beyond the door, the MBCS shares the troubles of Thermador’s other built-in microwaves: a keypad that stops responding after condensation, and a turntable drive that wears and heats food unevenly.
The latch or hinge on the side-swing door may have worn enough that the interlock switch is not satisfied. We adjust or replace what has worn and then test the switch.
Thermador lists 2.1 cu. ft., enough for a 9" plate together with a 20 oz. cup. We mention this because capacity does not change repairs, but it helps confirm you have an MBCS.
Not usually. Uneven heating is more often a worn turntable motor or coupler, which keeps food from rotating. We check the turntable drive before looking at the magnetron.
