Thermador T24IW800SP
A centerpiece between two tall columns is a common home for the T24IW800SP. Per the 800-generation design guide it keeps 80 bottles, seven on each of eleven hardwood shelves, and splits its interior into two climates, each adjustable from 41 up to 64 F, as the 18-inch column does.
Collectors spot small shifts quickly. When the display shows the right number but a thermometer sitting in the rack tells a different story, we suspect the zone sensor or the moving air in that zone. Noise and vibration from the compressor weigh more here than in a kitchen refrigerator, because they can disturb sediment in aging bottles. The glass-door gasket and the theater lighting get checked on the same visit. The 102 W rating is a handy yardstick if the unit seems to be running constantly.
Set a thermometer in a water-filled glass halfway up the rack and leave it overnight. Water changes temperature slowly, so brief door openings do not distort what you read in the morning.
Not quite. The T24IW900SP and T24IW905SP that followed fit 92 bottles, and the 905 adds a third zone, so rack layout and capacity differ from this 80-bottle unit.
A low compressor sound is normal, but rattling or a noise that travels into the racks is not. Loose trim or hardware can be tightened or adjusted during a visit.
