Thermador WDC30J
Thirty-two plates and a dedicated Plate setting: the WDC30J is a stainless warming drawer designed for serving dinners, with four heat levels (High, Medium, Low and Plate) in a 2.5 cu. ft. cavity. It is a plain mechanical-feeling unit with no Proof mode and no SoftClose, so what you hear when it closes is the plain rail action.
That simplicity helps in a repair. When the drawer will not warm, we test just three things: the heater, the thermostat and the thermal cutout. There is no soft-close damper or electronic timer to blame. A drawer that rattles is a rail or roller matter, usually caused by a heavy load of dinnerware day after day.
It plugs into a 120 volt outlet through a 72 inch cord, and at 64 lb it is lighter than some peers. We make sure the cord is not pinched behind the cabinet, check the cavity temperature on each setting, and give you a written quote before parts are ordered.
Plate is a distinct setting for warming dinnerware. If Plate does not heat but Low does, the thermostat or its selector may be failing. We measure the cavity on each setting.
This model was not fitted with SoftClose, so it stops on its rails. A rattle or hard stop can mean worn rollers, which we can adjust or replace.
The light only shows the control has power. The heater or thermostat may have failed. We test each with a meter to find the cause.
