Thermador MD24BS
A microwave that slides out like a drawer changes who can use it, and the MD24BS is the Professional MicroDrawer for kitchens where a microwave is mounted at counter height under the worktop. Press the touch control and the drawer opens on its motor; press again and it closes. That motor and the glide system are the unusual service items on this appliance.
Everything else is microwave work. Its 1.2 cu. ft. cavity is fed by up to 950 watts across 11 power levels, so a unit that runs without heating involves the magnetron and high-voltage circuit, handled with discharge precautions. Sensor Cook relies on a sensor to set time and power, and one that reads poorly shows up as under- or over-cooked food.
We also look at the Wi-Fi link, the concealed drop-down panel and the 48 inch cord with a flush installation, since heat or tight clearance affects the drawer. You see a written price before any part is ordered.
We test the power to the unit, the touch input and the drawer motor. A jammed glide or a blocked track can also stop it, and we inspect those first, before replacing any motor.
The sensor may be reading incorrectly, or steam may be escaping through a worn door seal. We check the sensor and the seal before suspecting the control board.
We advise against it. A running microwave without heat may have a failed high-voltage part that stores charge. We test it unplugged and fully discharged, then confirm the door switches before it is used again.
