Thermador MU30WSU
Mounted above the range, the MU30WSU does two jobs: it cooks, and it pulls cooking air away from the cooktop below. According to Thermador’s product page, the door opens to the left, the interior is 2.1 cu. ft., the draw is 1550 watts at 120V/15A, and the built-in ventilation takes the place of a range hood.
That second job gives it a problem built-in and drawer microwaves lack. Grease collects in the filter, and the blower motor wears from years of moving it, so a kitchen that stays smoky or steamy may need airflow attention rather than anything on the cooking side.
For the microwave itself, the same list applies: a side-swing door that no longer satisfies the interlock, a keypad hurt by condensation, and a turntable that wears. Any numeric error code should be noted down and mentioned when you request service.
Often not. A grease filter clogged with buildup or a worn blower motor reduces airflow, while the microwave itself still works. We check the filter first, then the blower.
It lives above the range, so it handles heat, steam and grease all day, and its fan runs whenever you cook. That combination wears filters, blower motors and keypads faster.
A habit of washing it regularly keeps airflow strong and eases the load on the blower. If the filter is damaged or the fan stays weak after cleaning, the blower needs inspection.
