Thermador T36IF100SP
Thirty-six inches of freezer in a single door is a lot of cabinet to swing, and the T36IF100SP is the widest freezer column in the Freedom line. Its door is left reversible and carries a custom panel, so the hinge takes more load here than on the narrower 18- and 24-inch freezer columns.
That is why door alignment tops our checklist. A SoftClose hinge that has dropped slightly will leave a gap along the bottom corner, and warm air then reaches the evaporator and builds frost. Once the door is true, we look at the airflow in the cabinet, the defrost cycle and the temperature sensors.
The ice maker is the smaller part of the cabinet at 3 lbs of storage and 2.4 lbs per day, but a restriction in the water line shows up quickly. Even so, a wide freezer should be checked for temperature before ice, since frozen food is what is at stake.
The door and panel are wide and heavy, so the hinge carries more leverage than on narrow columns. A small sag can open the seal. We measure and readjust.
It runs the freezer colder for a period to freeze new items faster. If the mode does not end or never starts, we test the control and the sensor.
We slide it forward carefully, protecting the floor and the panel edge. Clearances matter, so we confirm the opening size before pulling the column. The cutout is the first thing we verify.
