Thermador WD30JS
The WD30JS does double duty as a warming drawer and a storage space, which is how many owners treat it. The cavity is rated at 2.6 cu. ft. and 27 dinner plates, with three heat settings and a Proof mode for dough. There is no SoftClose, so the drawer stops on its rails, and dishes that bounce around are a hint that the rollers need attention.
Thermador names WD30W as its successor, so you may meet the two side by side in homes where one was swapped for the other. What we see with the WD30JS is typical of a drawer that has run for years: a heater that no longer reaches temperature, a thermostat that sticks, a Proof mode that wanders.
We check the cavity with a thermometer on every setting, test the heater and cutout with a meter, then inspect rails and rollers. The 84 inch cord and 120 volt plug are examined for damage as well. As always, you receive a written price before any part is ordered.
Only items rated for heat, and never anything flammable. Stored items can also block airflow around the heater. If you find the drawer stays too hot, we check the thermostat.
Proof needs a steady low temperature. A thermostat that drifts or a heater that cycles badly can spoil it. We measure the cavity and test both parts.
Thermador names it as the successor, but we would check the cutout size and cord placement first. A quick measurement on site will confirm whether it fits.
