Thermador WD30WC
With the WD30WC the drawer face is stainless steel, which means it is meant to sit visibly under a Thermador wall oven, speed oven or microwave rather than hide behind a wood panel. Its touch control sets one of three heat levels or Proof, and when a customer says the drawer has gone dead, the question is whether the panel or the heater is to blame.
We split the problem in two. A lit panel with no warmth points to the heater, the thermostat or the safety cutout inside the 2.2 cu. ft. cavity. A panel that does not light or respond needs a look at the control and its power supply. The drawer plugs into a plain 120 volt receptacle through an 84 inch cord.
On every visit we also test the telescopic rails and the SoftClose damper, since a full load of 27 plates presses on them. A thermometer in the cavity verifies High, Medium, Low and Proof settings. We give you the price in writing before ordering anything.
The panel is only part of the story. The heater, thermostat or a thermal cutout may have failed. We test each one with a meter and then check the temperature in the drawer.
Yes. A warming drawer holds food at serving temperature rather than cooking it. High is the hottest setting. If High barely warms the cavity, we test the heater.
The drawer is designed for 27 plates of up to 10 1/2 inches. Loading far beyond that strains the rails and SoftClose damper, which is a common reason for rough movement.
