Anahuac, the Chambers County seat, bills itself as the Alligator Capital of Texas and holds a Gatorfest annually. This small town on Trinity Bay is surrounded by marshes that draw birdwatchers.
What turns up in Anahuac homes, and how that affects a Thermador repair in this area.
Nahuatl gave the town its name, which translates as place beside the waters. In 1830 Colonel Juan Davis Bradburn of Mexico set up Fort Anahuac to collect customs, and trouble in 1832 and 1835 contributed to the start of the Texas Revolution. Oil was discovered locally in 1935. Today roughly 1,980 residents call it home.
Anahuac relies on the West plant of the Trinity Bay Conservation District, which treats Trinity River water purchased from the Chambers-Liberty Counties Navigation District. Surface water of this kind generally carries less scale than well water does, so dishwasher spotting and heater buildup are less common.
About 43 miles east of Houston on Trinity Bay, Anahuac has the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge 16 miles southeast. Moist marsh air and bay humidity keep conditions damp, which is hard on gaskets, hinges and anything that stays closed up.
Kitchens here tend to be straightforward, so we service dishwashers, freestanding and slide-in ranges and built-in refrigeration, including Thermador Freedom column units in remodeled homes. Garages often hold a chest freezer for fish and game.
South of I-10 on the bay, Anahuac is reached together with Wallisville, Oak Island and similar east Chambers stops, normally next day or a bit later. Nearby streets clog during Gatorfest, so tell us if you live near it.
A season of game and a day of fishing can land in the freezer together, a strain for any unit. Spread a large haul over a day or two instead of dropping it in warm, keep gaskets free of frost, and defrost a manual chest freezer once ice passes a quarter inch. In damp bayside air, wipe door seals on a built-in refrigerator or freezer column so mildew does not take hold. We check seals, fans and the defrost system, then give a written price for approval.
Move the meat to ice or a working freezer at once. Then check the lid seal, the coil and the outlet, and call us if it still runs hot. We tell you what failed.
Our price is written before work begins and covers what we will do. Tell us your address, and we confirm the schedule and the written estimate together.
Past about a quarter inch it begins to insulate the walls and the unit works harder. Unplug it, empty it onto ice, let it melt and dry it before restarting.
