A speed oven has more to go wrong than a standard microwave, because it adds convection parts. Identifying yours helps narrow down the likely cause.
From the front, a Thermador speed oven and a standard built-in microwave can look similar. Inside they are quite different. A speed oven joins microwave and convection heating in one body, and its control board is more elaborate than the one in a regular microwave.
That gives the speed oven extra parts that can wear out, and the two platforms do not share the same common failure points.
If a speed oven microwaves food but never browns it, our attention goes to the convection side. If nothing heats at all, the shared electronics move up the list. A standard microwave has no convection side to blame, so the search begins elsewhere.
That short list lets us arrive prepared with a sensible idea of where to look first. You can find the equipment we handle on our microwave repair page.
Look for the model plate if you are unsure which you own. It is often visible around the door frame or inside the cavity, and reading it to us over the phone is enough to tell the two apart.
