Thermador Hood FILTER Icon Blinking or Lit: Clean-Filter Reminder

What FILTER icon blinking / lit means

This is not an error code. On Thermador Masterpiece downdraft hoods UCVM30XS, UCVM36XS and UCVP36XS, the FILTER icon blinks after 30 hours of blower run time, and on Masterpiece chimney and island hoods the FILTER button lights after 40 hours. It is simply a reminder that the filter needs cleaning. It does not mean anything has broken, and the hood keeps working while the reminder shows.

Usual causes of FILTER icon blinking / lit

Accumulated blower run time

1. Turn the blower off. 2. Remove the filter and clean it as the manual describes. 3. Reinstall it fully. 4. Reset the reminder as the manual describes. Call us if the icon stays lit after cleaning. Wait for the filter to dry fully before reinstalling it, and follow the manual for the reset.

Is the FILTER icon an error?

No. It reminds you the blower has run for a set number of hours and the filter needs cleaning. Once the filter is clean, the reminder is reset and the hood works as before.

How many hours until it appears?

The downdraft manual says 30 hours of blower run time, and the chimney and island manual says 40 hours. The hours count blower run time, not calendar time, so heavy cooking brings the reminder sooner.

Do I need a technician?

Only if the reminder will not reset after cleaning the filter and following the manual's reset steps. Otherwise a clean filter and a reset are all it needs, and that is a job you can do yourself.
