Every heat source on the PRG486WDG runs on gas, from the burners to the igniter in each oven. Thermador built it in the Pro Grand commercial-depth line at 48 inches, with two burners and a griddle on top and two separate ovens beneath: 3 cu ft for the primary, 1.3 cu ft for the secondary on the left. Its PRD-prefixed cousins use electric ovens instead. Our first step on any call is isolating the specific burner or oven that is affected.
Each oven runs its own Self Clean cycle and its own Keep Warm mode. A stalled clean cycle, or a Keep Warm temperature that wanders, therefore has to be tied to one cavity before we dig further.
If the griddle, a burner, or either oven will not light reliably and gas is in the air, close the range’s gas valve before any other troubleshooting. As the range ages, igniters and gaskets deserve the first look.
Yes. Each oven has its own igniter and burner, so one can light while the other stays dark. We find out which cavity is affected before testing anything else.
Keep Warm cycles the oven's gas burner at a low rate, so uneven heat usually points to the igniter or gas valve control on that cavity.
Close the gas valve at the range if you smell gas, then call us. The griddle's ignition is checked on its own, apart from the two burners.
