Thermador KBUIT4255E
The KBUIT4255E belongs to Thermador’s earlier lineup, before the Freedom Collection. At 42 inches wide it is a built-in side-by-side, and Thermador’s installation documentation groups it with the 48-inch KBUDT4865E as one electronically controlled generation. Today’s Freedom columns are stacked as separate refrigerator and freezer units, whereas here a single cabinet holds both compartments behind two full-height doors.
The ice maker, usually fitted to the freezer-side door, and the door seals tend to wear first, often ahead of the sealed system.
Thermador’s older naming uses E for the electronic-control generation. A dead or erratic panel is a different problem from the compressor, so we separate them: if the unit ignores the panel while the compressor is audibly running, we suspect the control board or panel before the sealed system.
No, even though one document covers both. Thermador's installation instructions cover the 42-inch and 48-inch models of this generation together, but widths and SKUs differ.
In older Thermador naming a trailing letter generally marks a control generation, such as A for mechanical and E for electronic, and not a size. Your unit's data plate gives the exact generation.
Not by default. A dead panel with a running compressor suggests the control board or panel, and those are repaired separately from the sealed system.
