Thermador T18IW800SP
The 800-generation Freedom Collection has a narrow wine column in the T18IW800SP: 56 bottles on eleven dark exotic hardwood shelves, five to a shelf, behind UV-protective tempered glass that accepts a custom frame. Thermador’s design guide lets each of the two zones run anywhere from 41 to 64 F, so reds and whites get their own setting.
Wine tolerates a swing of a few degrees far less than groceries do, so a zone off its setting matters. Water on the inside of the glass suggests the door is not sealing, or that the room air is very humid. One zone that stays warmer than its setting points us toward the fan or sensor serving that zone. We also check the carbon air filter and the wooden shelf slides, and we test how the door closes with a full load of bottles.
Yes. Each zone is adjustable from 41 to 64 F independently, so setting both warmer is no problem, and the settings do not affect one another.
Not usually. A bottle that is wider than the standard 750 ml size can stick out beyond the shelf, and giving it a spot on the presenter shelf avoids the problem.
Humid room air meeting a cold pane, or a gasket letting that air in, will leave moisture there. We check the seal first and the room conditions second.
