Thermador HMIB42WS
Forty-two inches of stainless steel hanging over an island is a statement piece, and the HMIB42WS is usually installed above a large cooktop or a range with a grill. Because it is meant to be looked at from every side, owners notice a gap at the ceiling collar or a crooked chimney before they notice a drop in airflow.
We look at alignment and support first, then the connection between the chimney and the duct, since a loose collar leaks air and whistles. A 42″ canopy also pulls more across a wide cooktop, so the damper and duct diameter matter. We test all four speeds and the automatic mode, which should not leave the fan running after cooking is over.
The wider cassette filters hold more grease and should sit square in their frames. Where the hood has been switched from ducted to recirculating, we confirm the right filters are installed. Prices are written before we replace a part.
Whistling is usually air leaking at a loose duct collar or past a damper that is not opening fully. We check the connection and damper and reseal or replace the part as needed.
Delay shut off and automatic mode keep the fan running briefly to clear the air. If it never stops, we test the control and settings to find out why.
Not usually. For most adjustments one of us can work from a ladder. If the canopy must be lowered or supported, we tell you before the visit.
Request a visit online in about a minute or phone our coordinators. Close-in neighborhoods often see a same-day slot; the outer counties usually get the next day across Houston.
