Thermador PH36HWS
Compact and straightforward, the PH36HWS is an 18″ tall, 24″ deep wall hood meant to sit over a 36″ range without dominating the wall. It has no heat lamp or Wi-Fi, so service here is about the basics doing their job: air in, grease out, light on.
We begin with the baffle filters. These are the commercial-style kind, and in a kitchen that sears often they carry a lot of grease, which can show up as drips at the front lip. Next we run the four speeds and listen to the low setting, where the Powerfully Quiet System should be nearly silent; any hum points to the blower wheel or its mounting.
The damper has to open fully for the ducted air to leave the house, so we check the flap and the duct above it. LEDs and the touch pad are last, and any repair is priced in writing first.
Baffle filters that have not been washed, or a trough that has filled up. We clean what we can and check whether the filters are seated so grease drains into the right place.
It is more often grease on the blower wheel or a loose mount. We inspect the wheel and fasteners, and only recommend a motor when the test shows it is needed.
No. The PH36HWS has LED lighting, while the heat lamp is listed on the PH36GWS. We check the model label to be sure we have the right parts.
