Thermador PH54GWS
The PH54GWS joins a 54-inch Professional canopy with a connected control system, so a service call can lead in either direction: mechanical or digital. We begin by asking what the owner sees. An app that cannot find the hood sends us to the router and pairing. A fan that runs but pulls poorly sends us to the baffles and the damper.
Hood Sync is the feature that ties the hood to an induction cooktop, so the fan can react to the cooktop without anyone pressing a button. When it stops working, we test the pairing from both sides before replacing anything.
The heat lamp keeps food warm and is a separate load from the blower. Four speeds and a damper complete the picture. Thermador no longer lists the hood as available and names no successor, so we use the published specs and the installed unit as our guide. The canopy is wide, so we plan two people when the body has to come down.
No. Hood Sync is a feature for when it is paired with an induction cooktop. The hood runs on its own controls and the app without one.
They are separate circuits. We test the heat lamp and its connection on its own before we think about the main control. The light being on tells us the lamp circuit has power only for that lamp.
Listen for a clunk or flutter at startup, or notice poor draw with a clean filter. We watch the damper blade move when the fan is started.
