Thermador HMWB36WS
When a customer owns a 36-inch cooktop, the HMWB36WS is the wider sibling of the 30-inch version, and it lives in the same low-profile format: 11 inches tall, 23 1/8 deep, with 30 inches required above the cooking surface. It is on the current Thermador list, and the page highlights Wi-Fi, Hood Sync with induction cooktops, noise reduction of up to 35% and automatic mode.
With six more inches of width the airflow has to spread across more of the cooking area, and the mesh filters catch more grease. A call about steam drifting past the front edge is more often about the filters than the motor.
We begin there, then move to the damper, then to the controls. Because the hood can be ducted or run in recirculation mode, we confirm the installation first. If an app or Hood Sync issue is reported, we also look at the cooktop, since the link involves both appliances.
It depends on how much you cook, not the width alone. The reminder on the hood and a look at the mesh will tell you.
With pairing on both sides and the Wi-Fi signal at the hood. If both connect, we test whether the hood receives the cooktop signal. Hood Sync needs a cooktop that supports it, too.
Light and blower run on different circuits. We test the blower, its capacitor and the control output separately. A lamp that works proves only that the light circuit has power, not that the fan circuit does, so each gets its own measurement at the hood.
