Thermador PH30HS
Small kitchen, 30-inch range, one wall and a short duct: that is where a PH30HS usually lives. Its dimensions are 18 by 29 15/16 by 24 inches, so it does not stick out as far as the deeper 27-inch boxes in Thermador’s line, and its smaller footprint puts the baffles right over the front burners.
It has three speeds, boost and delay shut off controlled by LED push-buttons. Missing from the specification are a damper and a filter reminder, so owners have no prompt to wash the baffles. If a call arrives about poor capture, the baffles are the first suspects, followed by the exterior cap, which has to open freely since the hood has no damper of its own.
Thermador lists PH30HWS as the successor, an upgraded Professional model. For repair we stay with the original push-button panel and switch, testing each speed and boost on its own, then looking at the motor if one position is silent.
Use whichever clears the air without excess noise. If even the highest does not, we check the baffles and duct before the motor. Lower speeds are quieter.
There is no damper in this model, so outside air can come back through the duct. The cap or flap outside is where we start.
That depends on whether you want its features. A repair to the PH30HS is often reasonable, and we give a written price first. Nothing is done before you approve it.
