Thermador PH60GWT
This is the widest hood in our batch, 59 15/16 inches of canopy, and the only touch-control model here that lacks a delay shut off. That small difference matters: when an owner says the fan will not turn off by itself, we have to explain that this model does not have that feature, so the control is probably fine.
What the PH60GWT does offer is four fan speeds, a damper and clean filter reminders, with 30 inches of clearance over a 60-inch run of cooktop or range. The length makes airflow balance the key issue. A restricted duct will show up as weak capture at the far end, while a sticking damper is felt as noise at start-up.
Thermador lists the PH60GWT as no longer available and gives no successor. We therefore rely on testing rather than on a replacement path: filters, damper, speeds and touch response, in that order. A canopy of this length needs two people for anything that involves lowering it.
This model has no delay shut off, so it runs until you switch it off. That is normal for the PH60GWT. Switch it off yourself at the control.
On a very long canopy, duct restriction or a half-open damper reduces pull at the ends. We check both. We also look at every baffle along the row.
Four. There is no boost setting, so the fourth speed is the highest the hood offers. We test each of the four at the blower during a service visit.
