Thermador VCIN48JP
At 45 3/4 inches wide and 12 13/16 inches tall, the VCIN48JP is a long, flat integrated hood that fits into a cabinet above a 48-inch range. We often see it where the kitchen design leaves no room for a visible canopy, and the cabinet maker made a custom enclosure.
A long body means a wide damper flap and a long blower housing, and when the flap does not seat evenly, it flutters. We listen for that at start-up. A call about whistling at speed three usually leads to a loose duct connection or a partly closed damper, and both are checked with the filters out.
Controls are LED push-buttons for three speeds, plus delay shut off, and there is no boost. Thermador lists VCIN48GWS as the successor, and the VCI248DS insert in this same catalog names this hood as its own replacement, which shows how widely the model is used in custom kitchens. We repair using the original control board and parts.
A soft click when the fan starts and stops. Fluttering or banging during use means the flap is not seating or is obstructed. Call us if it persists.
The indicator and the motor may be out of step. We test the output of the board at each speed. We compare the output with the sound.
Follow the manual's instructions for the filter type. Make sure they are fully dry before they go back in. Otherwise they will drip onto the burners below.
