Thermador PH48GWS
The PH48GWS spans a 48″ range and adds a heat lamp, which is the part we get called about least often and notice most when it fails. At 27″ deep it reaches well out over the burners, and the width means a broad run of baffle filters, each of which has to seat properly or the hood drips and rattles.
On arrival we test the lamp and its switch, then run the fan through its four speeds with the damper open and watch the airflow at the exterior cap if we can reach it. A 48″ hood moves a great deal of air, so the duct size and any recent changes to the house, such as sealed windows, are worth asking about.
We also check the clean filter reminder, delay shut off and Wi-Fi pairing. If a part has to go, the price is in writing before we start and the work carries our 30-day warranty.
That depends on the control layout, which is on the touch panel. If the lamp only works with the fan or not at all, we test the switch and the lamp circuit.
A 48" ducted hood is audible at full speed, but rattling or whistling is not normal. We look for a stuck damper, loose filters or a restricted duct.
They should sit flat in their frames with no rocking. A filter that tilts will rattle and let grease past. We reseat them or quote a replacement if the frame is bent.
