Thermador VCI6B30ZS
The VCI6B30ZS belongs to the 6-series custom inserts, which Thermador pairs with a stainless liner built into a cabinet or a plaster hood. The unit is just 5 3/4″ tall, so there is very little room for the fan, and most of the airflow depends on how the duct is arranged around it.
When it comes in for service, we first confirm the exact model label, because Thermador lists the VCI6B30XS as its successor and the parts are not always interchangeable. Then we examine the duct for back-draft, since this insert has no damper, and the mesh filters for grease.
The four fan speeds, delay shut off and the low-consumption light are tested in turn. If the Wi-Fi connection has been lost, we pair it again and check that Hood Sync reacts to the cooktop. A written price comes before any parts are ordered.
Thermador lists it as the successor, but fit and wiring need to be confirmed with the label and the cabinet opening. We check before you buy anything.
Often a loose mount or a surround touching the housing, and sometimes grease on the wheel. We tighten, isolate and clean, in that order. Each step is tested before the next.
The specifications list none. We therefore check the exterior cap and duct for back-drafts when owners notice odors or cold air. Odors and drafts usually trace back to that path.
