Thermador VCIN42GWT
Despite the 42 in its name, Thermador lists the VCIN42GWT at 40″ in size, with a 39 3/4″ body, so it is one of the less obvious sizes in the insert family. Owners sometimes order a replacement filter or cabinet trim using the 42, and the part does not fit, which is why we measure before we order.
We begin with the label and the measurements, then examine the damper, the duct and the baffle filters. The illuminated-button panel is tested button by button, since a single dead control can look like a failed fan. The Cold White 4.000 K lighting and the four fan speeds come after.
The 22″ depth of the insert means the blower is in a deep box, so we also check the mounting for loose screws. Thermador’s site also uses global wording for this hood, so part numbers are confirmed against the unit. You see a written price before work.
Thermador lists the size as 40", and the body as 39 3/4" wide. We measure it at the visit so any filters or trim are ordered to fit.
No. We test the button, the panel connection and the board, and replace the part that failed. The hood itself is rarely the problem. Most buttons are replaceable alone.
Note the label number and which functions fail: fan, light or buttons. That helps us bring the right parts to your first visit. A photo of the label saves time.
