If a 48″ range is the centerpiece, the VCIN48GWS is the insert that disappears into a hood above it. Its body is 45 3/4″ wide and 22″ deep, so the hood surround is generally a custom piece, and any service involves working around it instead of removing it.
We therefore measure first: how much of the insert we can reach from below, and whether a filter can be taken out without removing the trim. On the unit itself, we check the damper, the duct and the stainless baffle filters, particularly the two on the ends, which are above the outer burners and often get missed when cleaning.
