Thermador VCIN48GWT
Over a 48″ range, the VCIN48GWT sits inside a hood surround and does its work hidden from view, until a button or a light fails. This version has illuminated buttons and Cold White 4.000 K lights, and on a 45 3/4″ body there is more of both to inspect than on the 36″ versions.
We first confirm the model by label, since Thermador’s page for the VCIN-GWT inserts uses global wording that does not match what is on the unit. Then we look at the damper and duct. A wide ducted insert on a long run loses much of its pull, so we check for crushed or undersized sections above the ceiling where we can.
Baffle filters are removed and checked for fit, the four speeds are run, and every button and light is tested in turn. A written quote comes before any repair, with a 30-day warranty on the work performed.
A section or a connector may have failed, or the lamps may have aged differently. We test them separately and replace only the part that has failed.
A weak but quiet hood suggests a blocked duct or stuck damper more often than a failed motor. We check airflow at the damper and along the run.
They are listed as washable stainless steel. We advise following the manual, and look at the frames for damage if they will not sit flat afterward.
