Thermador VCIN60GWS
The largest in the VCIN family, the VCIN60GWS is 57 3/4″ wide, which would normally sit over a 60″ range with two ovens or a range plus a separate griddle. A hood of this size moves a lot of air, and in a modern, well-sealed house the air has to come from somewhere, so a whistle at an exterior door is as likely to be a make-up air issue as a hood problem.
We check support and surround first, and then the damper and duct. Baffle filters at the ends are removed and examined, since they get less attention than the central ones. Next come the four fan speeds, the quiet low setting, LED sections and touch control.
Wi-Fi and Hood Sync are verified last. VCIN60GWT is named as the successor, so we match the label before ordering. We quote in writing before any repair, with a 30-day warranty on the work.
A large hood pulls a lot of air out. Without a path for replacement air, it comes in through gaps. We rule out the damper and duct first, then explain your options.
A long insert relies on solid mounting. We look for loosened fasteners or a surround that has shifted, and refasten or isolate as required. Work is done in that order.
It moves more air, but rattles or whistles are not normal. We trace them to the damper, filters, duct or mounting. Each cause is tested separately, so you do not pay for guesses.
