On older ESC30 and GSC30 ranges, F4 appears when the control sees the oven sensor circuit as shorted, as if its wires touched. That leaves the range blind to cavity temperature. The legacy notes suggest a bad sensor or pinched sensor leads, then the same sensor checks listed for F2. Newer Thermador units show F4 with another meaning.
1. Switch the oven off and let it cool. 2. Look only at what is visible: is a cord or object pressed against the back of the range? 3. Do not pull the range out by yourself. 4. Restore breaker power and call us if F4 returns.
It means the sensor wires are making a connection that bypasses the sensor itself. The control then reads a temperature that makes no sense and shows F4.
A pinched lead is one of the listed causes, so a recent move or reinstallation is worth mentioning when you call. We check the leads along with the sensor.
Not based on this code. The source points to the sensor or its leads, and we quote the exact repair in writing so you can decide.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
