Every cooking zone goes dark at once and F4 is shown. Thermador records this on both of its cooktop platforms as overheated electronics. Unlike F2, which cuts a single zone, F4 takes the whole surface out of service so the electronics can cool down before cooking is allowed again. The cooktop is simply waiting for the temperature to drop.
1. Switch the zones off and wait until the cooktop has cooled completely. 2. Look under the counter for anything stored too close to the underside and move it if you can do so safely. 3. Touch a control element to restart once the code is gone.
No. It is the overheat protection for the entire unit, and in most cases cooking can resume once everything has cooled. Trouble begins only when it keeps coming back.
If you already know something is stored right beneath it, moving it is sensible. Beyond that, inspecting the unit is better left to a technician.
F2 shuts down one zone on the electric platform. F4 shuts down all of them, which is why a repeat F4 suggests a wider cooling concern.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
