F8 here is the older generation's meaning, and it is not the time-limit message used on today's Thermador induction cooktops. On older Masterpiece models named CIT304GB, CIT304GM, CIT365GB, CIT365GM and CIS365GB, the display shows F8 when one element ran at high power for too long and the automatic shut-off stepped in. The cooktop is working as designed.
1. Check that nothing on the element is burning or boiling dry. 2. Press any symbol on the control panel. 3. The display clears and you can continue cooking. 4. For long cooking, lower the power setting to avoid the shut-off.
On this older table it is an automatic shut-off after constant high-power operation, so the cooktop isn't broken. Press any symbol to carry on cooking, ideally at a lower power setting.
Current cooktops use their own table, where F8 is a time limitation. This page covers only the older CIT365GB-era units, where the wording is about the element running too long at high power.
The manual does not give a number of minutes. It says only that the element had operated at high power constantly for too long. Lower the setting for long simmering and boiling.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
