E02 turns up on the freezer, and Thermador does not publish it. Independent repair sources treat it as the sister of E01, only for the freezer: the thermistor in that compartment gives a value outside its range, or the control cannot get a reading. On Freedom setups it appears on the freezer column, where a bad reading can put frozen food in danger quickly.
1. Turn power off at the breaker for a few minutes, then restore it. 2. Should the code return, keep the freezer door shut. 3. A couple of hours later, read a thermometer left inside. 4. Pass that number to the technician.
Both describe the same kind of sensor trouble. E02 belongs to the freezer, where a misleading reading endangers frozen food sooner than it would in the fresh-food section.
Moisture reaching the sensor plug is a commonly reported cause, which is why the connector is inspected along with the sensor instead of replacing the sensor alone.
If the thermometer shows the compartment warming, move items into another freezer until the sensor is checked, and keep the door closed meanwhile. Ask what reading they see.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
