How do I tell demo mode from a dead compressor?

Under demo mode everything electrical looks fine, lights, display and sounds included, but nothing cools. Opening the Advanced Service menu takes under a minute, so look there before anything else.

Could a brand-new refrigerator arrive this way?

Yes, which is the reason to check this setting first on a newly delivered unit that remains warm, before suspecting any hardware. Cheap to rule out, so do that before any repair.

The menu option has disappeared. Now what?
