Starting the built-in check on an 800-era IF column makes the display cycle through several messages. If all is well, the set temperature comes back. If the control spots a problem, the ALARM symbol lights up along with an error message; Thermador's example is a sensor error. The test points toward a part, but it cannot repair anything on its own.
1. Turn the column off and let it rest 5 minutes. 2. Power it on, keeping the door shut. 3. Press and hold SETUP plus ALARM OFF for 5 seconds. 4. When the sequence ends, write down any message left on the display.
No. The check only requires that the door remain closed, and afterward the column returns to its set temperature, so everything can stay inside during the run.
A shorter press of the same two buttons, 3 seconds, resets the column to factory values. Hold them for the full 5 seconds right after powering on.
Record it word for word and give it to the technician. It tells them which sensor or part to test first, saving time on the visit.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
