Thermador wrote a separate installation manual for the PRG486GDH, which is a 48-inch all-gas range and the predecessor of the current PRG486WDG. Its documents name a sibling, the PRL486GDH, and place the model in the PRG304GH line alongside the 36” PRG364GDH, evidence of a coordinated set of professional gas ranges in several sizes.
Since the current 48” all-gas range has two separate gas ovens, this older one probably has two cavities as well. If so, working out which oven is affected is a sound first step, as it is on the current model, only without Home Connect to narrow things down. Burners, oven igniters, and temperature control follow, in that order.
A burner or either oven that will not reliably light, together with a smell of gas, means closing the range’s gas valve before any other troubleshooting.
Probably. Today's PRG486WDG uses two gas ovens and this model is its predecessor, so we confirm the layout on your unit when we arrive. We confirm that against your unit.
A closely related sibling that Thermador's documentation cross-references. If your range carries that number, tell us when you book. Mentioning that number when you book helps us prepare the right parts.
A worn door gasket lets heat escape and costs efficiency. We check the gasket alongside the igniter and temperature control. We would rather replace a worn gasket early than watch the oven lose more heat.
