CIT30FBG

Thermador CIT30FBG

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. An Extended Flex Zone that refuses to merge into one large area is typically about pan placement or sensor alignment, not hardware
  2. DirectSelect buttons that answer inconsistently often just need residue wiped from the glass above the touch sensors
  3. On induction in general, a zone that stays cold beneath a compatible pan may be a failed coil and needs professional diagnosis

Titanium Gray glass and an Extended Flex Zone define the CIT30FBG. It has four elements and 17 power levels on 7,200 watts, steered by DirectSelect Touch Control, a different interface from the Multitouch+ panel on some other CIT cooktops, and adjacent zones can join so a large pan gets even coverage.

The flex feature gives us one extra thing to examine. Before the touch panel, before the cookware detection, we confirm that a large pan really covers the merged area and sits where the sensors expect it. A zone that fails to combine is often a placement matter and not a defective zone.

Next we move to what is common on all induction units: wiping the glass over the DirectSelect sensors, trying a known-good pan, and then, if a zone is still cold, testing the coil. The order spares owners from paying for parts that were never the issue.

CIT30FBGCIT30FBG questions
My large pan only heats half the flex zone. Is it broken?

Probably not. The zones merge only when the pan sits across them as the sensors expect. Re-centering the pan, or trying one with a flat, wide base, often brings the full area to life.

Why do some touch buttons ignore my finger?

Residue or moisture on the glass over the sensors can mask a touch. Wipe the surface with a soft cloth and cleaner meant for glass cooktops, and try again with dry fingers.

When is a failed coil the likely cause?

When a zone stays cold with a pan you know is compatible, centered, and on a clean surface, the coil or its driver becomes the suspect. That is the point where we test it directly.
