Thermador T18ID905LP
Give up about one cubic foot, 7.8 cu ft instead of the 8.6 cu ft of the plain T18IF905SP, and the T18ID905LP gives you an external dispenser for ice and water: lit touch display, three programmable fill presets. Behind the ice maker plumbing sits the UltraClarityPro cartridge, and a wide ice drawer carries Thermador’s diamond-shaped cubes on to the chute.
Everything has to cross from the maker into a dispenser mounted on the door, so there are problem spots a plain freezer does not have. The left-hinged door swing can pinch the water line, the chute can drip, and the touch display can stop responding while cooling carries on unchanged.
The freezer’s compressor and controls stand apart, as elsewhere in the Freedom line. If the compartment is warm and the dispenser works, our attention shifts toward the sealed system, away from the water and ice path.
Thermador's sheet gives 7.8 cu ft gross for this model, compared with 8.6 cu ft on the plain T18IF905SP, because the dispenser mechanism and ice drawer use up interior volume.
Not necessarily. Display and touch controls run on a separate low-voltage circuit. Make sure the freezer is cooling and the door is fully shut, since many displays sleep with the door open, before suspecting the compressor or main board.
Often the light was never cleared, or the cartridge is not fully seated. We check both ahead of the display circuit. Then the filter seating and water flow get a look.
