Thermador T24IW900SP
Between the 800 and 905 generations came the T24IW900SP, which grew the 24-inch Freedom wine column from 80 bottles to 92. Thermador now calls it discontinued. It keeps the glass door that takes a custom panel, adds SoftClose, and levels on all legs.
A wine column gets rid of heat into the air around it. If the room is hot or the grille at the top is blocked, zone temperatures climb even though nothing inside has broken, so that is where we begin on a summer call. Racks that catch on their rails should never be forced: with a full load, the slides bend easily. Next we inspect the gasket along the glass, because a leak there leaves condensation, and listen for a fan whose vibration reaches the bottles.
Not right away. A hot room and a dusty or blocked top grille both limit how much heat the unit can shed. Clean the grille and watch the zone for a few days before calling.
Thermador lists room for 92 bottles of the standard 750 ml size, which is a step up from the 80-bottle column of the 800 generation that came before it.
Full racks are heavy, and a slide that is slightly out of line will rub against its rail. Pulling harder bends the metal, so we realign the rail and ease the rack out instead.
