Thermador KBUIT4265E
Panels go on the KBUIT4265E, a 42-inch built-in side-by-side from Thermador’s earlier KBU family and from its electronic E generation. One manual serves many numbers: the 4255E, 4265E and 4275E at 42 inches, then the 4855E, 4865E and 4875E at 48 inches, each as KBUIT or KBUDT.
Units this age give us a realistic reason to suspect the control or display board when the display goes blank and cooling carries on, rather than a sealed-system problem. We also lift the top grille. Years of dust collect on the condenser coils behind it, and cleaning them is frequently the least expensive way to restore normal run times. A freezer that frosts at the side-by-side door gasket and an ice maker slowed by mineral buildup are the remaining items, in that order. FD variants, KBUIT4265E/05 for example, have a service page at Thermador.
Cooling and display run separately, so the display or control board comes under suspicion first. Put a thermometer inside in the meantime to confirm that the temperatures are holding.
The KBUIT takes custom panels, while the KBUDT arrived with Thermador's own door fronts. The letters in the model number tell you which one you own, and the rating plate repeats them.
Dust insulates the coils, so they shed heat poorly and the compressor runs longer. Removing years of buildup lets the unit cycle normally again, and we check the fan nearby at the same time.
