Thermador KBUDT4265E
Factory doors, not custom panels, are what set the KBUDT4265E apart: it is a 42-inch side-by-side from the KBU line, finished with Thermador’s own fronts. Both its manual and its electronics are shared with the KBUIT4265E, and also with the bigger KBUDT4865E, and variants such as KBUDT4265E/06 have a Thermador service page.
Age makes one pattern common here: a warm freezer beside a cool fresh-food side. An iced-over evaporator or a fan that has quit is the usual reason, since the refrigerator side borrows its cold air from the freezer. When the compressor clicks and never starts, that is a different matter; the trouble often sits in its start parts and not in the compressor. Cracked door gaskets and an overdue filter that weakens the water or ice dispenser complete the list we work through on arrival.
Airflow and defrost trouble tends to show up on the freezer side of a side-by-side first, so we examine the evaporator and the fan before suspecting the compressor, and clear any frost.
Not necessarily. A start relay that is wearing out causes exactly this pattern, and replacing the relay is a much smaller job and a smaller bill than replacing a compressor.
Often it is, since an overdue filter restricts the flow. If a fresh filter does not help, we test the line and the inlet valve next to find where the water is being held back.
