A Thermador steam oven adds water-handling parts that a standard wall oven never has. Knowing which function failed helps point to the right area.
A Thermador steam oven shares its control board, heating elements, and door latch with a standard wall oven. If baking, roasting, and the door lock all misbehave together, the shared electronics are a sensible place to begin, whichever type you own.
On top of that common base, a steam model carries a water reservoir and a steam-generating system. A regular oven has none of this, so a steam model has more places where something can fail. A steam function that will not engage while regular baking still works normally points toward the water supply or the steam generator, not the shared electronics.
That distinction saves time. Two ovens that look alike on the wall can need entirely different work, and a clear description of which function fails lets us arrive with the right expectations.
A reservoir that is loose or low is a common cause of a steam program that will not start, and it needs no repair at all.
When the reservoir is seated and filled and nothing changes, the generator or its water path is the next thing we examine. See our oven repair page for what we service.
Mineral buildup from water can affect the steam side over time, so a unit that has run for years deserves a closer look at the generator. We note which program was running and whether water appeared in the cavity, since that guides our first tests.
Tell us at booking whether the problem affects only steam or all cooking. You receive a written price before work begins, and every repair carries our 30-day workmanship warranty.
