F50 appears on older Thermador C-series built-in ovens (C271, C272, C301, C302), the CM301 and CM302 convection-and-microwave models, and the CJ302. The service document for these units reads the code as the upper oven door signal being shorted low, so the control no longer trusts what the door and latch are reporting. The oven stops and shows the code. Owners of older, out-of-warranty units often see it after a sticky latch or a worn door switch.
1. Touch OFF, or switch the oven off at the circuit breaker. 2. Wait 3 minutes, then switch it back on. 3. If F50 returns, write the code down together with the model number from the oven frame. 4. Do not pry at the upper door latch or open any panel. Call us instead.
The code is about the electrical signal from the door and latch switches, not how the door looks. A switch can stick or wear while the door closes normally. A technician checks the signal at the board.
A reset can clear a one-time glitch. If F50 comes back, the door switch circuit still has a problem, and repeated resets will not solve it. Note the code and book a visit.
Not necessarily. Our source covers the older C, CM and CJ ovens only. Other Thermador generations can use the same symbol differently, so we confirm the model before quoting.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
