Older Thermador SC272, SC301, SC302 and SCD ovens, plus the SM and SMW combination ovens, flash F1 when the element supervisor is enabled. The Care & Use manual groups F-1 through F-9, FC, FF, F- and Fr into one list of flashing display codes. The service document points to the main power/relay board for F1, so a technician reads which code you have before touching anything.
1. Touch OFF, or switch the oven off at the circuit breaker. 2. Wait 3 minutes. 3. Switch the oven back on and check whether F1 flashes again. 4. If it does, write down the exact code and your model number, then call an authorized servicer. Skip any wiring work.
The manual lists F-1 to F-9, FC, FF, F- and Fr together as flashing codes that call for a reset and then service. The service document gives each its own meaning.
A repeat F1 means the reset is not curing it. Further resets only delay the check, so note the code and book instead. It is better to test once than to swap parts twice.
The service table has a combined F1, F7 row for a poor link between the display head and touch panel. We check that connection when both appear.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
