Instead of a separate grate over every burner, the SGC365 has continuous full-surface grates that span the whole cooktop. This 36-inch steel gas model uses standard sealed burners and electronic reignition, and an SGCS365 version adds two ExtraLow burners. An optional griddle, model AGGRIDDLE, rests across the grates.
Those grates produce a complaint that sounds like a burner problem but is not: a pan that rocks or heats unevenly. The grates are marked underneath for a front-to-back position, and putting one in reversed or in the wrong spot is enough to tilt the cookware. We check that before suspecting a flame.
Past the grates, the cooktop is mechanical and follows the pattern of Thermador’s other sealed gas models: clean the igniter and ports, reseat the caps, and, on the SGCS365, test the ExtraLow burner’s knob when it will not hold a low flame.
Probably not. The continuous grates are marked underneath for correct front-to-back placement, and a reversed or misplaced piece will rock a pan. Reseating them correctly usually settles it.
The SGCS365 version adds two ExtraLow burners for low simmering on top of the standard SGC365 layout. If a simmer will not hold, that burner's knob is the first thing we test.
It rests across the burner grates, so we remove it before inspecting the burners. A griddle that sits unevenly is usually the same grate-position issue and not a burner defect.
