E8208 is the last number in a Thermador list of overheated-electronics messages for current Masterpiece and Freedom induction cooktops, alongside F2, F4, E7015 and E8207. When it shows, the unit has switched off the matching cooking zone to protect itself. There is no separate wording for E8208, so the display tells you the cooktop is too warm, not which part ran hot.
1. Turn the zone off and take the cookware away. 2. Wait until the cooktop has cooled; do not cover it or place anything on the glass. 3. Touch any control element. If E8208 is gone, you may continue. 4. Cook at a lower setting for the rest of the meal and write down whether the message reappears.
Thermador lists F2, F4, E7015, E8207 and E8208 together without separate text. Different numbers likely track different internal conditions, but the manual treats them as one overheated-electronics warning. We read the exact one on site.
Not if the message clears after the cooktop cools and does not come back. Book a visit when E8208 returns during normal cooking, because that suggests heat is not leaving the unit properly.
Heavy cooking at high power can warm the electronics, so ease off the setting. The manual does not name cookware as the cause, though, so repeated codes still deserve a proper look.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
