SGS365TS

Thermador SGS365TS

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. With a gas smell, close the shutoff valve before anything else, then examine the burner for a cracked cap or a blocked port
  2. A burner that drops out after you release the knob is often a reignition sensor matter, not a bad valve
  3. Uneven heat from the center burner is usually a clogged port, not a control problem

Step up from the SGS305TS and you get the SGS365TS: the same five-burner sealed layout and 16,000 BTU center burner, spread across 36 inches for 58,200 BTU on natural gas. It also leaves out the ExtraLow simmer burners, which means every burner takes the standard push-to-turn knob.

The wider top does not change how the cooktop gets repaired. It is still entirely mechanical, and the large majority of calls we get involve one of three things: spark igniters fouled by spills, burner caps that no longer seat properly, or sensors for the reignition feature that have built up residue.

We work from the knob to the flame: confirm the burner clicks, watch whether the flame stays after release, and compare the center burner with the outer ones. A center burner that looks weak while the others are fine nearly always comes down to its ports, so that is the first place we clean.

SGS365TSSGS365TS questions
My burner lights but goes out when I let go of the knob. Is the valve bad?

Often it is not. A reignition sensor or a dirty electrode is more frequent, and the valve is usually fine. We check the sensor and the burner base before touching the valve.

Is the 36-inch version harder to service than the 30-inch?

Not really. The burners, igniters and caps are the same kind of parts, so the troubleshooting follows an identical order. The extra width only adds more surface to clean.

Gas odor in the kitchen: what comes first?

Close the gas shutoff valve, keep flames and switches away, and air out the room. Then call us. Do not keep trying to light the burner while gas can be smelled.
