Four sealed burners and a griddle share a 36-inch Professional top on the PCG364WD, which is rated at 72,000 BTU on natural gas and 60,000 on LP and carries ExtraLow simmer. In the box you get two pan supports of cast iron, the plate itself, and island trim.
The griddle is the part that raises the most questions. Its heat comes from a dedicated gas burner apart from the four on top, so a plate that cooks unevenly is traced back to that burner tube or to the diffuser plate sitting beneath the griddle. The surface burners and their knobs are not involved.
On the cooking side, sealed burners keep spills on top of the unit instead of letting them slip under, which changes the order of our checks. A lopsided flame sends us to the burner ports and cap seating first, and only then to anything deeper.
The griddle has a burner tube and diffuser plate of its own. A tube that needs cleaning or realigning, or a diffuser that has shifted, produces a hot and cold pattern across the plate.
They share the gas supply but not the burner. The griddle heats from its own burner, so trouble with the plate does not usually mean the four cooking burners have failed.
With the cooktop cool and the gas off, wipe the burner cap and clear the ports with a soft brush. Reseat the cap flat. If the flame is still ragged, we will take a closer look.
