SGSX305FS

Thermador SGSX305FS

What we most often repair on units like this

  1. Burner that sparks but does not ignite
  2. Center burner flame that is smaller than expected
  3. ExtraLow flame that blows out when a cabinet door closes
  4. Reignition that keeps clicking after a boil-over
  5. Grate rubber feet that harden and shift

Fitting five burners into 30 inches is the whole idea of the SGSX305FS, and it is why the center position carries 16,000 BTU. Owners usually cook with a big pot in the middle and smaller pans around it, which puts spills into the sealed burner bowls in the front half. A clogged port or a wet electrode is the most frequent reason a burner refuses to light.

On arrival we test each of the five burners separately, then watch the ExtraLow simmer function over several minutes. Stainless steel surfaces show heat discoloration, but that is cosmetic. The 120 V supply at 15 A powers reignition, and a loose plug or tripped GFCI outlet will stop all sparking at once.

SGSX305TS is the successor model named by Thermador. We check the rating plate before ordering and give you the written price first.

SGSX305FSSGSX305FS questions
Does a center burner of 16,000 BTU need special venting?

It needs a hood sized for the cooktop. We do not alter venting, but we mention it if smoke or grease is a concern.

The ExtraLow burner clicks and goes out. What do I do?

Turn it off and let us look. A dirty port or a weak igniter is the usual cause.

Are the grates a service part?

The continuous grates sit on rubber feet that wear. We replace the feet when they have hardened.
