Thermador SGSXP365TS
With five pedestal Star burners, a center power burner and two ExtraLow Select simmer burners adding up to 60,200 BTU, the SGSXP365TS is a serious tool for people who cook a lot. It is controlled by mechanical knobs, not touch electronics, so the usual reasons for a visit are a tired igniter, clogged burner ports or a gas valve that has stopped delivering a steady flame.
The glowing ring around each knob deserves its own attention. It tells you whether a burner is on, so when a ring stays dark we treat that as a safety question and test it separately from ignition. A burner can light perfectly with a dead ring, and a ring can glow while the burner refuses to catch.
If the complaint is a simmer that will not hold, we work through the ExtraLow burner on its own before judging the rest of the cooktop.
Not necessarily. The ring light and the ignition system fail independently. We test both, because a dark ring removes a visual cue that the burner is on, and that is worth fixing even if the flame works.
On ExtraLow Select burners, a flame that will not hold at the lowest setting often comes from residue in the burner or wear in that burner's valve, not from the gas supply. We inspect that one burner first.
If you smell gas, stop and call. Otherwise a burner that only lights poorly can wait for a visit, but keep the knob off when not in use and avoid repeated attempts to light a stubborn burner.
Request a visit online in about a minute or phone our coordinators. Close-in neighborhoods often see a same-day slot; the outer counties usually get the next day across Houston.
