On older Thermador C-series, CM-series and CJ302 built-in ovens, F51 means the control believes the upper oven door is stuck in the unlocked state. During a cleaning cycle that matters, because the oven wants proof the door is latched before it heats. If you own one of these legacy ovens and see F51, the cycle or bake will not continue until the latch signal makes sense again.
1. Make sure nothing is wedged in the upper door gap and the door is fully closed. 2. Touch OFF or turn the oven breaker off for 3 minutes. 3. Restore power and see whether F51 returns. 4. If it does, record the code and your model number, and stop using the upper oven until we look at it.
The oven uses the latch as a safety signal. If the control sees the door as unlocked when it should be locked, it cannot run a high-heat cycle safely, so it stops and shows F51.
The source describes the code for the upper oven only. Many owners keep using the other cavity, but we cannot promise that for every model, so ask us when you book.
Not usually first. The source points at the latch switches before the power/relay board, so a technician checks those and the wiring before recommending parts.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
