F61 on an older Thermador C, CM or CJ302 oven says the lower oven sensor circuit is open, as if a wire were cut or a plug had come loose. With no temperature signal, the oven will not bake from that cavity. This code belongs to the legacy service table for these models and sits beside F60, which is the shorted version of the same sensor problem.
1. Switch the lower oven off and allow it to cool. 2. Reset with OFF or the breaker, waiting 3 minutes. 3. Turn power back on and try a short bake. 4. If F61 reappears, record it with your model number and call. Leave all wiring covers closed.
Open means the sensor loop is broken, so no signal passes. Shorted means the loop is bridged. Both stop the oven, and a technician tells them apart by resistance readings.
A loose connection can make it intermittent, so a reset may work for a while. Because it can return mid-bake, we recommend a check before holiday cooking.
We confirm what a legacy oven needs by model number and give a written quote before any work. We do not promise a part until the model is checked.
Our technician checks it in your home and hands you a written price before touching anything.
